Privacy Policy

In short: your training data is used to power your pace model, coaching, and analytics. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising.

This policy explains what Route Pacer ("we", "us") collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Route Pacer website, app, and coaching features.

Information we collect

Account information

When you set up Route Pacer — whether by connecting Strava or by an email invitation — we store basic identifying details such as your name, email address, and, if you connect it, your Strava account identifier. If you choose to receive coaching by phone or text, we store the phone number you provide.

Activity and training data

To do its job, Route Pacer processes the activities you record or import, which can include:

GPS tracks, distance, elevation, and route information
Heart rate, cadence, pace, and timing data
Activity type, title, and notes
Derived metrics we compute, such as grade-adjusted pace, training load, and fitness trends

App and session data

When you use the companion app to guide a session, it processes data from your phone and connected sensors (such as location and heart rate) to provide live pacing and audio call-outs. Optional features — like live-sharing your location during an activity — are off by default and only run when you turn them on.

Communications

If you talk to the coach by chat, email, text, or phone, we retain those conversations so the coach can remember context and give consistent advice.

How we use your information

To build your pace model — fitting grade and heart-rate curves to your own training.
To coach you — planning your training, answering questions, and generating spoken guidance grounded in your real history.
To show you analytics — workout analysis, training load, and long-term trends.
To communicate with you — notifications, daily notes, calendar reminders, and messages you ask for.
To operate and improve the service — keeping it running, secure, and working correctly.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make Route Pacer work, and only to the extent needed to provide the feature you're using:

Strava — if you connect it, to import your activities (under Strava's own terms and your authorization, which you can revoke).
AI provider (Anthropic) — to generate coaching, plans, and written summaries from your training data and conversations.
Voice provider (ElevenLabs) — to synthesize spoken call-outs and coaching in the coach's voice.
Email and messaging providers (e.g. SendGrid) — to send you notifications, summaries, and any texts or calls you've opted into.
Weather data (Open-Meteo) — we look up historical conditions for a location and time; this does not include your identity.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or security of our users and the service.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data; some records may be retained where required for legal or operational reasons.

Your choices

Strava connection — connect or disconnect at any time, from Route Pacer or from your Strava account settings.
Optional features — location live-sharing, texts, and calls are opt-in and can be turned off.
Access and deletion — you can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Children

Route Pacer is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
