Everything below describes Route Pacer as it works today. The product is in active development, so details may change.
Route Pacer is a training tool for endurance athletes built around one idea: your pace means nothing without the terrain and effort behind it. It predicts how fast you'll actually move on a given route, coaches your training with an AI that knows your real history, and guides your sessions out loud while you move.
Most calculators assume flat ground and a single steady speed. Route Pacer fits a model to your own training runs that links grade (how steep the ground is) and heart rate (how hard you're working) directly to speed.
So when you load a hilly route and pick an effort level, it slows you down the right amount on the climbs, speeds you up on the descents, and also accounts for surface, heat and dew point, altitude, and the fatigue of a long effort — then gives you per-mile splits, projected heart rate, and a finish time.
The focus is on terrain-driven endurance sports: running, uphill and vertical training, and cross-country skiing (both skate and classic, with technique-specific models). These are the sports where a flat-ground pace number tells you the least.
The Coach is an AI coach that can see your actual training data — your quality sessions, easy days, and weekly load — and uses it to build a personalized plan on a calendar you can edit.
You can talk to it by phone, by text, or in the app, and it remembers the conversation, so you don't have to re-explain your situation every time. Its advice is grounded in what you've really been doing, not generic templates.
While you're moving, Route Pacer speaks to you — how your last lap went, cues during intervals and structured workouts, and a heads-up when terrain changes. You get the information without looking at your wrist.
It uses the coach's own voice, synthesized ahead of time and cached on your phone, with an on-device fallback voice for anything new. That means it keeps talking even deep in the backcountry with no cell signal.
It helps a lot. The most accurate pace model is built from runs that include heart rate, ideally from a chest strap. If you don't record heart rate, Route Pacer can still build a useful model from your paces and race times — it just leans on published grade curves instead of your personal heart-rate response.
Route Pacer works with the activities you already record. It can connect to your Strava account to pull in your runs and skis, and the companion app handles the live, audio-guided side of a session on iPhone.
Route Pacer is currently in active development and access is limited. There's no public sign-up link yet.
Yes. You can connect your Strava account so Route Pacer can import your activities and analyze them. You're always in control of that connection and can disconnect it at any time.
Your training data is used to power your pace model, your coaching, and your analytics — and that's it. We don't sell your data. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture of what's collected and how it's used.
No. Route Pacer is a training and planning tool, not a medical device or a source of medical advice. Pace predictions and coaching are estimates — use your own judgment, train sensibly, and consult a professional for health questions. See the Terms of Use.
